Kids Believe For Education ~ School Box Kit Fundraiser Event

SYSTER Project and Social Networking Groups Believe For Education ~ School Box Kit Event Launched Online

Online social networking groups rally to support school box kit fundraiser event  to benefit underserved  kids in USA communities.

As schools and communities face drastic budget cuts, Moretta Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) launched it's school box kit fundraiser event to raise awareness and bridge gaps in resources for kids that might otherwise have to do without.

  • 85% of children in the nation participate in the federal free and reduced lunch program.
  • 37% of children in the country live at or below the poverty line.
  • Most of these kids go to school without the supplies necessary to their class work.
  • An average teacher spends between $500 and $1,200 of their own money to provide supplies for their students.
  • Many schools are underfunded and cannot provide the everyday school supplies used by students.

Essential school supplies connect children to the education and the joy of learning.   Social media friends and online communities like Facebook and StylishAttitudes.com are connecting to the cause to help make the difference for children in underserved communities across America.

If you would like to nominate an elementary school or class (K-8) to receive school box kits, or if you'd like to start an event for your group or organization, contact the program coordinator and learn more online at http://www.MorettaCommunity.org/ or http://www.KidsBelieve.org/

Resolution?
I’ve come to an interesting conclusion about the “R” word. My unscientific findings at best: quite simply the truth about promises in general– the ones I’ve made to myself and those people make to each other-  some are kept, most are not.  Winding down 2009 I reflect on the words that resonate most this year; all things happen for a reason.”  So for now, replaying episodes of my personal 2009 cinema reality, I ponder an answer to the final 2009 moments… watching episodes of my favorite classics, Twilight Zone marathon, and  Ghostbusters!

I love the scene where Bill Murrays’ character,Dr. Peter Venkman, arrives at his date Dana’s apartment, their big night out, only to find the exotic character Zuul, played by Sigourney Weaver, in search of her Keymaster.  Dangerously sensual and demonically (or psychotically) possessed, her apartment is a slimy mess, yet he gives pause to consider her“new look” contrasted from her previously reserved demure and professional presentation.  Totally ignoring the warning signs, he’s still eager to goout on their date. Scientific curiosity at best! Wow-wee!

Renditions of a city under ghostly destruction, across town, the scene is set against the dramatic beauty of New York’s skyline, Central Park, The Village, and our beloved Twin-Towers.  The Gatekeeper is also in search of his mate.  It’s only the comedy of the story line that lightens the mood and keeps me from diving deep into the symbolic meaning of the moment – after all…. New Years Eve, home with family waiting with joyful expectation of new ‘reasons’ from  2010.  Ah! Inspiration.   My new year’s resolution: Live, laugh, love, listen and learn – authentically. I have 365 days to deliver on that promise to myself. For myself.  The flower of a woman centered, joyful and content is the gift I’ll promise to others.  Happy New Year.
